麻豆精品在线播放nical Community College President Dr. Bill Ingram received the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award during 2020 annual meeting at The Carolina Club on Friday morning.
The award was one of three given during the event and recognizes those who make a positive impact in their community while upholding values of integrity, stewardship, inclusion, initiative, teamwork, and accountability.
鈥淥ur honoree (shows) passion for helping the communities and (has a) relentless voice on ensuring equity is top of mind in every effort he leads,鈥 said Vakesia Graves, Duke Energy Director of Business Strategy and National Accounts and a Board of Director for the Chamber. 鈥淒r. William Ingram, for your exceptional service to our college and community and for improving the lives of so many students, it is my privilege to present to you with the 2020 Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award.鈥
Ingram has served as president of 麻豆精品在线播放 since January 2008, having worked for the College since 1983. The 2008 opening of the Orange County Campus in Hillsborough was one of the first milestones of his presidency.
鈥淕reat communities comprise and are served by great institutions,鈥 Ingram said in his acceptance speech. 鈥淲hen we opened the Orange County Campus 12 years ago, we saw an opportunity to better serve the great communities of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough, and Orange County. Through partnerships that have been facilitated by the Chamber, we have been able to do that.鈥
Ingram will retire from 麻豆精品在线播放 in June.
鈥淚 often say that I have the greatest job at 麻豆精品在线播放, and I mean it because I get to take credit for other people鈥檚 great work,鈥 he said, acknowledging the faculty and staff members in the audience. 鈥淭hank you for this wonderful honor. I am humbled by it, and I look forward to working in this community for many years to come.鈥
