"G" Course Sections: Frequently Asked Questions
In Self-Service, you may see some online courses that include a "G" in the section number.
Here are some key things to know:
- I see classes on Self-Service that have a G in the section number. What does the G mean?
Any section with a "G" in the section number is an online section that requires only one to two in-person meetings.
- Where will these in-person meetings take place?
The in-person meetings will take place on the Orange County Campus in Hillsborough. For every on-campus meeting, the room number is listed to the right of the time/date.
- How do I know when these meetings occur?
The meeting times and dates are listed directly on the Self-Service schedule. It's important to note the date(s) listed under the times.
- Why does an online class have in-person meetings?
The answer differs for different classes. Many classes (and all math sections) require students to take a proctored midterm and final on campus. Others require only a face-to-face orientation on the Orange County Campus.
- The math G sections look like they have specific meeting times all semester. Is this correct?
The math G sections are online synchronous sections. All classes are held online at a specific time. E.g. MAT 152-170 meets online on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 am - 1:10 pm.
- But the schedule says Orange County Campus right next to these meeting times...are these meetings really online?
Yes, these meetings really are online. We promise.
